URGENT WARNING: ISSUES – STATE OF OHIO DEPT OF TAXATION

Over the past 2 to 3 years the State of Ohio has issued several unwarranted and threatening tax notices. Additionally, there has also been an uptick in notices from the local municipalities (CCA and RITA). In over 90% of the cases, the taxpayer was fully compliant. All tax filings and tax payments were made timely.

Are you an Ohio Employer with payroll? Have you received either a notice that you owe payroll state withholding, and you know you paid or that you owe Income tax because they disallowed the $250,000 Business Deduction? Are you an individual who paid your local taxes, yet received a notice that you did not pay?

There are some fundamental and systematic issues with our state and local governments. We highly recommend you keep all records of filings and payments. This is your only defense.

What can you do?

File a complaint. Call the state or local governments and complain. Compounding our efforts will raise awareness and invoke accountability. We also recommend that you file a complaint as soon as you confirm that you received a notice in error. You are not the only one and this is a growing problem that must be stopped.

We are providing an address to write to the state but you can also email your complaint. We highly recommend to do both.
